01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

Diners have described the wood-fired Manyo beef as fragrant on the outside yet moist, making it one reason to choose a meal at Makibi Katazuma. Some have also praised the thick-cut meat, from tongue to fillet, as tender and juicy. For a focus on lean Manyo beef, the Omakase Short Course includes 7 dishes, finishing with a meal and dessert. The Omakase Upper Course, with around 9 dishes, also features seasonal ingredients; diners can choose one cut from Manyo beef sirloin, selected lean beef or fillet, which carries an additional charge. Course contents vary by season and day.

A clay-pot rice dish with clams and mushrooms can round off the meal. Diners who have tried the course have singled out the rice’s fluffy texture and the final mixed rice as memorable, extending the enjoyment beyond the wood-fired dishes.

For lunch, there is also a 6-dish course centred on a steak of lean Manyo beef. Available from 12 to 14:30 on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, it requires advance booking and includes a meal and dessert. Drinks to accompany the wood-fired cooking include Koshu wine and sake.
